not just that, Cano to the Mariners? like...wtf?

I heard the stories about his agents saying shit like "oh he a rock star, he gonna get people to show up."

no, no one is. Not even puig. People show up to baseball games because of a winning team, great pitchers, or home run hitters. the mariners park + cano = 20 HRs, not 40-50.

"lets go see robinson cano field a grounder and go 1-4 at the plate with a stand up double that leaves him stranded because no one else can hit"

He hasn't signed yet though right? I know Seattle is interested but didn't see anything about them signing him

they are the only team offering that outragous fucking contract he wants. here is what we have so far.

Yankees offer him more money per year, but less years
Mariners offer him more years and more money over all, but less per year
I think the Marlins were making a play for cano too but didnt hear any reports
Any other teams involved are pretty quiet

I guess he's another Jonny Damon. Sometimes it shouldn't be about the money but what's right. Wonder what the Sox were offering him if anything.

Honestly Im a little sad to see him go. Hes a good fielder, mediocre arm (lefty, alot like Damon), decent batting avg and good stolen base numbers. Thing is, hes injury prone. Played 18 games in 2010 and 74 in 2012.

And for the Yanks to pay him for 8 years? LOLOOLLOLOOLLOLOLLOLOL

i figured the Yanks had figured out paying 30+ yr old players for 8 years was a stupid idea. But I guess not. Plus this doesnt help the Yanks pitching which was a joke last yr and looks to be the same this yr.

Yes i consider him, Damon, Clemens, Boggs and yea, Boggs guilty of treason and should be hung from a Mass Pike overpass. Fuckin hate Boggs.

I dont put Youk in this catagory because he was run out of town by those assholes Beckett, Gonzo and Crawford for being up thier asses about the chicken and beer thing while the team went in the shitter and costs Francona his job when those 3 pricks would then be shipped out anyways. Youk got fucked.

Ya Youkilis is a class act. I always liked that guy. But ya they paid a ton for a guy who is basically a bit of an upgrade over Brett Gardner.

I am really impressed with what the yankees are doing.

Cano 240 million for 10 years. Lets keep that in mind.

They got McCann for 5 years, Elsbury for 7, and Beltran for 3-4 (i forget)

Those are 3 repetitively big names, very productive players. AND...they arent breaking the bank to get them. With a manager like girardi who did a great job last year will have a lot of guys for the line up who can get on base and drive guys in. they are doing good.

the names they got are really productive players. McCann is an AL style catcher, Beltran is the greatest playoff hitter in history, Elsbury is a good defensive fielder and a good OBP

the blue jays didnt win last year because you paid a fuck load of money for everyone. you guys need to pull a rays and just go sabermetrics in building a team

Lest we forget the suckstripes also let Granderson go.

Cano > granderson
Granderson < Ellsbury
Cano > Ellsbury
Granderson > McCann
Yankees = swallow balls

Though the Ells and McCann signings are good, thye still lose a significant amount with losing Cano and Grandy. Beltran is old news.

Not to mention not one of these moves helps the Yanks horrid pitching...

the mets got granderson which i am happy about. Murph as our lead off, wright as our 3rd, and granderson as clean up? i am excited for 2 years from now when we get harvey back from TJS. He is a good pitcher and what killed the mets the passed few seasons is the fact we have average/above average pitchers but score virtually no runs.

when ever he comes up through the system, i think he played a few games, i dont believe he started any games. Buck is our C and he started out great but was below average the rest of the year.

So reports say that Roy Halladay is going to sign a 1 day contract with the Jays and retire. Just wanna say that he might be the classiest, and one of the best players we've ever had in Toronto out of any sport. I really hope he gets a job somewhere in the organization, maybe a pitching coach or something. He's just such a positive influence. Hopefully they'll put his name in the ring of honor at the Rogers Centre in the upcoming season. I would hope he's put in to the Hall of Fame too. He was one of the most dominant pitchers throughout the last decade

And also, Romo still plays in Texas.
