Your Playoff Setup

How would you do a playoff system?

I had to do a paper about change so I did changing the BCS to a Playoff and I think I came up with a great idea.

14 team Playoffs.
#1 and #2 teams get a 1st round bye.
6 teams from BCS Conference Championships get AQ
8-"At Large" bids*
*A team from a Non AQ conference gets an automatic At Large bid IF they win their conference championship AND have at least 10 wins.

The 5 BCS bowl games then become the National Championship game, the 2 semi-final games and the quarter final losers, play in a consolation tournament with the other 2 BCS bowl games.

Not perfect but I thought it was pretty decent.

i would have a 10 game regular season with 2 extra games added on for everybody which ill get into why

you have a 10 game set regular season. if your in the sec, you get 8 conference games and 2 noncon. the 2 extra would be playoff or consolation games to jocky for a bowl birth.

run through a hypothetical. you are team a. you play in the pac 12 and you go 8-2 and 8-0 in conference. week 1 of the post season be the championship game (win), then next week would be against either another conference game winner of say the sec or mac (who knows) or the winner of a play off game between say the big east and big 12 (because both dont have a conference championship)

so lets look at team b. they go 4-6 in the regular season with a 4-4 conference record. the extra 2 games could be either conference foes they maybe didnt get to play yet (like the big 10 or sec with 12 and 14 conference teams) or against other opponents who are around the same record. they go 2-0 and finish 6-6 and get a shot at a bowl game.

its the best of both worlds. playoffs and bowls. even teams not in the hunt for a NC have the feel of the playoffs to make to a bowl birth.
