Ryan O'Reilly

So basically the story with this guy is that he just doesn't want to play in Colorado. He was unsigned until just this afternoon when my Flames went out and signed him to a two-year offer sheet. The deal would mean that if Colorado doesn't match the offer, they would receiver the Flames first and third picks in this upcoming draft, which is a deep draft. If the season ended today, that first round pick would be the 8th overall pick and would give Colorado two top 10 picks. But then again, Ryan O'Reilly scored 18 goals and added 37 assists last season, is only 22, and is a great two-way centre.

So, what would you do if you're Colorado?

Take the picks, if the guy doesn't want to play for you, why match the offer and have an unhappy player on your team that could fuck up your locker room? Take the picks and draft. I don't get into the NHL draft because the people the Wings draft you won't hear about for 5 years. But I'd take the picks and develop the players that would WANT to be there.
