Buccaneers Talk
First day on the field at camp and most reports are good. Arrelious Benn and Cody Grimm both showed good signs that they have fully recovered from their injuries. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of Brian Price. Reports said he's added some weight and was limping during workouts today.

Yes, I am curious to know that as well. Sign everybody up, then sign one or two big names. We should be good. Linebacker, Offensive Line, Running Back.
I am very excited for this Season!

Re: Buccaneers Talk
Looks like we are signing NO ONE! Except the punter/kick off specialist. Some exciting battles in training camp:
1. MLB- I had heard good things about McKenzie during the lock out. Wish we could hev gotten Ruud for 1 more year, but oh well. I doubt Foster will get the spot early, but should be interesting to see how this plays out.
2. RT- Lee vs Trueblood. I think both are good players. I'd give Lee the edge as he does not seem as boneheaded as Trueblood sometimes gets.
3. WR- All reports from camp continue to rave about Mike Williams. He's clearly the a star. The battel for number 2 will be good. I think Benn has the ability to really be a factor. Reports are good about coming off the injury, but the will be cautious with him until the opener. Stroughter, Spurlock, Briscoe, and Parker will likely be the other Wr's. Wonder if any of them will separate from the pack.
4. DL- Wow, what a young talented group! If they progress, they should be 8 deep in the rotation.
5. LG- Larsen vs Zuttah. When you don't hear anything about a Olineman, that usually good. I never heard anything about Larsen last season. Zuttah has proven to be solid and versatile. I give the edge to Larsen.
6. CB- Biggers vs Lewis. Biggers was an unsung hero last season filling the 3rd CB, and also starting with Talib out. Lewis came on strong at the end of the year. The lack of interest in Aso and the other FA's, tells you the Bucs like what they have.
7. Safety- Will there be any room for Tanard Jackson to return? I think Cody Grimm is smart and solid. I do hope T-Jack has turned his life around and can committ to a clean life and good football as he has star potential.
8. RB- Blount is a beast, but will need to share the load. Caddy is gone and I haven't heard if Huggins returned. That leave Lumpkin and Bradford. I know little to nothing about either guy. Of course there is always Mr. Reliable in Earnest Graham if need be.
9. TE- Who will back up K2? Stocker was drafted for it but is hurt. Purvis kind of sucks, but we'll see.
Got my season tickets in the mail and can't wait for the season to begin. It will be hotter than heck on 9/11, but it will be fun!

Re: Buccaneers Talk
I'm not a big Buccs guy, but don't they have the most cap room in the league? Why haven't they gone after anyone? Cromartie, Braylon, Poz, even Rudd. All of them could help the team. There are quite a few O-linemen out there too that could help them.
They seem like the Bills. Too scared to spend money.... difference is the Buccs are good.

Re: Buccaneers Talk
I'm still thinking Tampa has a set back year. Kind of like what New Orleans did in 2006 to 2007 (I think those are the right years?)
You usually don't see a jump from something like 3-13 to 10-6 or better and maintain that success. I think the gradual build up
3-13, 7-9, 11-5 type of seasons show the team improvement, not that the Bucs haven't improved but maybe the overachieved last season, they come back down for a year then maintain some decent success. (By decent I mean seasons with at least 9 wins) I just think they will drop a little this year.

Re: Buccaneers Talk
I think record -wise the Bucs could drop off a little from 10-6, but I think the team is headed in the right direction. As for the salary cap, it's a little frustrating for fans that we don't spend anything, but the Bucs insist they are sticking with their plan of building through the draft and resigning their own players. My guess is that guys like Freeman and Williams are going to get BIG contracts in the next year or two.
For me, I think that most people still don't quite understand that parity in the NFL. Bad teams aren't as bad as people think and good teams aren't as good. ALL teams are REALLY REALLY close and the clique is true- Any Given Sunday... Every week anyone could get beaten and anyone can win.

Since the Bucs weren't a team until 1976, I'll assume that's a typo???

Re: Buccaneers Talk
The Bucs are going to London!
Which I'm pissed about. Which fuckwit decided it'd be a good idea to send a team to London and use up a HOME game? I thought the 49ers doing it last year was a one off?
It's not like the NFL is like the NBA or MLB where there's 400 home game to choose from and still have loose change for US based fans to see.
I might go and cheer Joshua Freeman on. He's my favourite player off the Bucs.

Only thing good about it is that the Bucs reimbursed me for that game on my season ticket package. I think it sucks that the Bucs have had to play in London 2 outta the past 3 years.

Yeah, that to.
At least in 2009 it was an away game they gave up to come here. They were designated the home team for the event.
Might have something to do with the Glazers. Always the bloody Glazers...

Yeah. My bad. I was thinking of the Dolphins..which is completely opposite.

Mike Williams is a stud!
report from camp- 4:50 p.m.: Mike Williams is consistently getting five yards of separation on every defender. He might be the most precise route-runner in Bucs history. - I.K.
4:34 p.m.: Aqib Talib cannot stop Mike Williams. Period. Talib tries and just can't hang. It doesn't even seem fair at times. - A.R.

Several things are keeping people away from the Stadium:
A. Prices
B. Expectations
C. Lack of Support
Prices can be fixed, just lower them. The Season Ticket Prices are unbelieveably scary and if they were to lower them 10/15 dollars, we would get a lot more people in the stadium. Expectations can also be fixed, by getting better. We are an improved team and many people are expecting a big year from the Bucs. Unlike last year, where we were supposed to do lousy again. So many people were caught off guard. Lack of Support sadly, cannot be fixed. Many people don't want to see a game where there are no superstars. Well Josh Freeman is an upincoming super star, but it's hard to compare him to a Simeon Rice/Warren Sapp/ Derrick Brooks/ Ronde Barber/etc. Era. We've gotten new and Fresh, and not everyone down here in Florida likes that. But I do expect a bigger attendance come this year.

Tickets for Steelers games start at like $75-$100. I don't understand why they need to be THAT cheap for people to buy them. Since the Pirates were doing good, they easily had sell out crowds, and that was just 7 games over .500. The Buccaneers were 1 game away from the playoffs, and you're saying people still won't buy tickets??

That's depressing.
Now I kind of realise why they gave up a home game to come to England. At least it won't be blacked out.
Really depressing that your fans can't be bothered to go to the games after a few dodgy years. I mean, you did win a Super Bowl not 10 years ago and didn't Dungy take you to the play-offs a couple of times too?
The Lions and Browns haven't been to the play-offs in years let alone won a Super Bowl in the last 10 years but I don't think they have a streak of blacked out home games in one season.
I actually saw a tiny bit of the Super Bowl. I was skipping between the Super Bowl and the porn channel 10 minute free-view. I think I remember one team scoring an FG (might have been the Raiders) but this was a good 8 years before I became seriously intrested in the NFL so I didn't pay ,uch attention. If I'd spent a little less time on the porn channel, I might have ended up a Bucs fan 10 years ago lol.

When the economy tanked, the Bucs tanked. While that was happening, the Glazers had that shit hit the fan with their finances with Man U. So, fans were already under the impression that the Glazers were being cheap with the Bucs to cover for losses at Man U. THey felt this way because we were consistently millions of dollars under the cap for a few years and we never went out and "got somebody". Instead we hired Raheem Morris. We dumped very popular players like Brooks, Dunn, Galloway, etc.. We drafted Josh Freeman when we had no defense and that was not a popular pick at the time (but it's GREAT now!). We went 3-13 and it was ugly. 2009 was the first year we were not sold out since 1996. Even though we didn't have sell outs, the Glazers actually bought up the rest of the tickets so games could be on tv. And what was on tv was TERRIBLE! Well 2010, the economy hasn't improved, the Bucs were all unknowns coming off a 3-13 season, and we lost 2 home games badly vs Pitts and N.O.. The Bucs were not on tv and people were not seeing the games. Although last year was incrdibly exciting and promising, many Tampa fans don't know these guys because last year the black outs were in effect. Now present day, economy still sucks, people still haven't seen the Bucs, and the Bucs made no big name acquisitions to draw more interest. Bucs fans are still very passionate fans for their Buccaneers. Unfortunately many people are leaving the area (and it's already a highly transiate area) and people just can't go to the games. Kind of sucks, but people still love the Bucs.

There are blackouts for the Bucs games because of Obama!!

How come the Bucs had 8/8 blacked-out games last year? It just occired to me that I actually saw a Bucs home game last year and I remember the stadium being pretty empty...
