I hate Wiki too, thats why i searched some more and found this on a more credible site..there are a BUNCH of teams making 17 MILLION DOLLARS for thier school/team...hers USA Today breakdown..

im not disputing the amount of money the schools are making. i am just saying where the money is funneled to in the end. like say you have a rose bowl. michigan and usc, arguably the two biggest most popular schools between the conferences.

both schools make a fuck load of money from many factors. merch, tickets, tv, tuition, donations, etc. (they aint going broke)

what happens, they play, they both receive a good chunk of change from the bowl game. some of the money gets divided amongst the rest of their conference.

that money along with the other money from the rest can pay for all the scholarships, travel expenses, coaches salaries, and uniforms. what ever money is left over goes further divided for other sports and schools.

not every school makes money off of their football team, basketball makes money for schools too. Duke actually loses money paying for its football program but makes money off its basketball program. why? well because dukes bball team is almost yearly in the final four getting bank. same with uconn and other STRONG bball schools.
