How's Your Team Doing?
How's your team doing?
Right now the Tigers aren't looking to good, starting pitching is shaky with Porcello, Worthless Penny and Coke. Then I'm not to happy with our Bullpen. I was at the 2nd home game and we couldn't get a hit. Then we get the bases loaded for Ordonez and he swings and pops out on the first pitch and we end up losing.
Outside of Martinez, Boesch and Cabrera I'm not sold on the hitting either and Boesch is still young so I can't really count on him either.
A good surprise though is Alex Avila, he has been hitting pretty nice early on this season.

Yeah, that's because you guys have the best pitching lol. I mean I'm not the most in depth MLB IQ guy, but fricken aye, glad I got Halladay on my fantasy team.
Hallady, Lee, Oswalt? Beasting.

Hamels is great too, comparable stats to Halladay last year if he'd had some run support. Lineup's hitting great too

Red Sox are doing absolutely terrible! But then again, the Blue Jays are doing great. Might have to go to a few more games this year. JP ARENCEBIA!!!

Re: How's Your Team Doing?
Well the team I was a "fan" of is doing garbage. (The Rays)
Im not a huge fan of them, and never was. Of course I cheer for the home team, but I really cant like them. So I am more of an MLB fan, then a fan of a certain team. I've always liked the Giants, Astros, Orioles and Astros as my Band wagon teams.

Re: How's Your Team Doing?
My Tampa Bay Rays are likely on the clock for the #1 overall draft pick this year. After a nice run the past few years, it's back to the bottom of the standings for the Rays. Luckily I haven't been a big baseball fan since I retired from my playing days in the early 1990's. I've never recovered from the lock out.

Pirates are 5-5 at the moment
And the Padres didn't allow themselves to get swept by beating the Dodgers 7-2

Re: How's Your Team Doing?
Buccos 5-5. The starting rotation has been surprisingly good but our bullpen keeps blowing games, which is the exact opposite of last year, but they finally have almost all their pieces in place to be a contender, the problem is said pieces haven't fully adjusted to the majors yet. A year or two from now when Tabata, Walker, Pedro, etc. have worked out their kinks they're going to be dangerous.
You laugh now but these guys are going to be a serious team 3 years from now when we have guys like Jameson Taillon, Stetson Allie, Tony Sanchez, and Cole/Rendon in the lineup. Especially considering Mccutchen can't ditch us for the Yankees until 2015 lol. I think they have waht it takes to finish somewhere around .500 this year, and Clint Hurdle is the first manager we've had in years that truly made me feel confident in his ability to turn the team around.

Well that's what I was saying, our earliest "essential" contract that expires is Neil Walker and I dont think hell leave cause hes a hometown guy and has an emotional attachment here. And then the next guy is Mccutchen and his contract is up in 2015 so at the earliest is traded at the 2014 trade deadline. So we have four more seasons to get said prospects up and acclimated, field a contending team, and convince our young corps not to leave us for New York/Boston. And if we dont, its back to square one and the franchise probably ships out of town.

This ^.
Rant begins right now...
This will probably be my only post in this particular section of the board because I'm old enough to officially be sick and tired of MLB and the Nuttings. If I were younger and haven't witnessed as much pathetic ball as I have, I may not feel this way. I haven't attended a professional baseball game in five years because I do not want to give that joke of a league or that scumbag of an owner one cent of my money.
To the original question in this thread...
This season is just like any other season. We won in Chicago and people in this city were ready to march a parade across the Clemente Bridge. In the local sports media, we have morons like Vinnie (93.7 The Fan) telling us how we should go out and spend money at the park and support the team. Vinnie is from NYC and has been in this city for 10 minutes and he's telling Pittsburgher's how to spend their money. Try watching this pathetic excuse for a baseball "franchise" for 18 straight years and then he can get back to me.
Going back to your comment, it's the truth. They have done it time and time again. They get talent and they trade it away once it prospers. Worse yet, they get absolutely nothing in return for the guys they trade away. When Alvarez, Tabata and McCutchen are playing in Boston, Philly and NYC in the future, the younger generations may finally get it. Until then and as usual, the Pirates PR staff will sell these people on the future, fireworks, food, dumb pierogi races, cheap bobbleheads and the view of the city.
Until MLB gets a salary cap and the Nuttings prove to me they want to win, talk is cheap and MLB is absolutely dead to me.
End of rant.

The phillies are doing great too. Howard had a solo shot in the 2nd inning of the game today against the Nationals. And now there losing 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh. Its fine though everybody has a bad game.

The Red Sox suck because their owners bought Liverpool FC who've sucked for 20 years. The Liverpool suckiness has infected the Sox like a cold lol.
Anyway, I don't follow baseball a huge amount but the Athletics are 5-6 now. That's...average. Not awesome and not terrible either.

Buccos back to. 500, if only for one night
Charlie Morton and Kevin Correia have done surprisngly well so far, I wonder how long then can keep it up before they revert back to their old mediocre selves. Through 3 starts each they are both pitching like legit top of the rotation pitchers, instead of "Pirates top of the rotation" pitchers.

Re: How's Your Team Doing?
So far, so good. I hope Alvaraz plays much better defense after benching him a game. I believe McDonald will improve from his woes this past weekend. I really hate that there is no salary cap. The Yankees have such an advantage over the Pirates it's not even worth discussing. Obviously, they will be good every year and the Pirates will suck, since they make almost 5 times the money the Pirates make. I really hope the NFL makes a salary cap for next year!
