Re: Regular Season Predictions
Matt, how can you possibly predict Pittsburgh and Baltimore to both go 10-6? The AFC North plays the NFC West this year, if anything they should both be getting at least 12 wins, if not more...their only really hard games are against each other and against the Colts, Texans, and Patriots/Chargers (PIT plays NE, BAL plays SD, but not vice versa)
Most Passing Yards: Philip Rivers

Baltimore over San Diego (San Diego is overrated and Philip Rivers will never win a ring)
Houston over Indy (With Peyton they're good, but Houston's time has come)
Detroit over Green Bay (SB hangover and Detroit will be fired up for their first playoff game in forever, they'll pull off the shocker against their rivals)
Atlanta over St. Louis (Bradford will be good but he's not ready to beat a team like Atlanta yet)
DIV:
Pittsburgh over Baltimore (as usual)
New England over Houston (I said before Houston's time had come...for the AFCS. Not ready to beat a team like the Pats who have other talent besides their quarterback)
New Orleans over Atlanta (Tough one but I think Ingram will be an elite NFL running back and gives New Orleans an even nastier offense)
Philadelphia over Detroit (Detroit will be great but is not ready to make deep playoff run yet)
CONF:
Pittsburgh over New England (Ben is extra motivated from the Super Bowl loss and with an even better receiving corps will throw for a career performance against New England's inexperienced, Meriweather-less secondary. Game will be high scoring shootout between Brady and Ben, think Pit vs GB in 09)
Philadelphia over New Orleans (Philly overcomes the hype and Vick leads his team to the big game)
SB:
Pittsburgh over Philadelphia (In a tough game, Pittsburgh's defense outplays Philly's and Ben completes a career year, MVP caliber season in the game of redemption quaterbacks)

A wildcard? Even though I predict early season struggles, we will win the division (not taking injuries into account)

Re: Regular Season Predictions
I'M NEVER POSTING ON THIS FORUM EVER AGAIN!!
Seriously, why is everyone under-estimating the Cardinals?
We went 5-11 with DEREK ANDERSON and MAX HALL, one was a rookie and the other is possibly the worst QB since Ryan Leaf. Actually, he's the worst QB ever because at least people saw Russell and Leaf sucked and binned them after 4 years and they haven't been back. Anderson is still getting jobs 6 or 7 years after coming into the league.
If you think we're going 6-10 with a huge improvement at QB, a new DC who came from the Steelers (and we know what the Steelers D is like), improvements to our OLine, and the best WR in the league locked up for another 8 years you're NUTS.
Sure, we have our issues but so does everyone in the West. Niners have no QB, the Rams have a brutal opening schedule, the Seahawks have no OLine and Tavaris Jackson under Center. Sure, we've lost Toler and Williams for the season but people were making these crazy 6-10 predictions before they got hurt.
Actually, fuck it. I'm tired of explaining this. We'll let the results and stats talk. Come Week 7 and when we blow out the Steelers 27-10 and go 6-0 everyone will be predicting the Cards to top the West.

Re: Regular Season Predictions
Well maybe we won't beat the Steelers but the point is we ain't going 6-10 or worse.
And Matt, why is it that most people are saying that the Lions will only do good "if Stafford stays healthy"?
Is Shaun Hill garbage then? He did a great job last season and I think even if Stafford gets hurt again and spends a couple of weeks out - or worse gets put on IR - the Lions can still have a winning record.
I'd go so far as to say the Lions have one of the best QB situations in the league, Stafford is a great prospect and Hill is a QB with starting experience who isn't completely burned out like some veteran back-ups (Culpepper, Kitna, Bulger, Carr, Pennington, etc) and he isn't a 1st round bust either (Leinart) or someone who's got a legend who never gets injured (whoever Manning, Brees, and Brady's back-ups are).

They're not saying Hill is garbage, its just that that's how much better Stafford is than Hill. From everything I've seen Stafford has one of the best arms in the league; when he's healthy.
Is no one else going to make any predictions? Just me and Phantom?
Re: Regular Season Predictions
Lions 4-12 if Stafford hurt by week 3
Lions 10-6 if Stafford healthy for all 16 games
*sidenote*
Jets win AFC EAST with a 12-4 record ( maybe 13-3 but thats pushing it)
Jets defeat whoever they play in the SB and that is how this season goes.

Yeah. I know there's a big gap between Stafford and Hill but that doesn't mean that Hill is completely useless. If Stafford goes down, he's a reliable back-up.
10-6/11-5 with a healthy Stafford playing every game
8-8/9-7 with Stafford only playing a fw games and with Hill stepping in.
I remember my Lions fan friends moments of utter despair whenever it looked like Culpepper might come on lol. Won't have those moments with Hill lol.

Re: Regular Season Predictions
I see a few guys predicting Revis to lead the league in INTs, that would be nice but Revis doesnt really make alot of plays for the ball, he breaks up passes by ripping the WRs hands away from the ball, i can see him getting 3 or 4 INTs but not leading the league.

For the most part, I was pulling names out of thin air.
I don't kno if Revis will lead the league in INTs but he was the first CB to pop in my head so I put him.

I hear ya man, believe me i would love for him to lead the league but his style of play doesnt get very many INTs, he rarely makes a play for the ball, instead he will make a play at the WRs hands and seperate them from the ball resulting in alot of pass break-ups....as far as leading the league in INTs this year i will say Patrick Petersen, hes a ballhawk and im sure he will get alot of oppurtunities being a rookie
