Seahawks Offseason Preview Hawks-12-man-flag
This is a preview of the Seahawks offseason.
QB- Travis Jackson improved greatly through the year but he is not a franchise QB. Look for them to draft a QB in the first round. Look for them to draft a QB in the first two rounds.
RB- Their running revolves around Marshawn Lynch and look for them to put their franchise tag on him. Justin Forrest is a free agent and if they don't bring him back and draft a young scat back Leon Washington would become the compliment back.
WR- This team is talented at wide receiver with Mike Williams and Sydney Rice coming back from injury. They also have young receivers in Golden Tate and the undrafted free agent Doug Baldwin look for them to add depth late in the draft.
TE- In last years offseason they added the marque free agent Zach Miller and last year he had a very disappointing year. With John Carlson a free agent they must decide to bring him back just in case if he doesn't return to form or draft a TE in the mid round to push Zach Miller.
OL- The Seahawks have trying to rebuild this unit since the retirement of Walter Jones. The drafting of Carpenter, Okung and the signing of Robert Gallery. Look for them in the mid rounds to add depth to this unit in the mid rounds.
DL- The Seahawks have a big decision on Red Bryant who had a superb year last year will be a free agent and they need to make a decision on him. If he walks look for them to be aggressive to look for his replacement in the draft or free agency.
LB- This has been an underrated unit led by David Hawthorne and Leroy Hill who both will be free agents. You should expect Hawthorne back but Hill future isn't as likely. With the departure of Tatpu and Curry before the year expect to add some linebackers from the draft.
DB- This unit had a lot of surprises in Richard Sherman and in Kam Chancellor. Marcus Trufant is a free agent, but don't expect the Seahawks to overpay for him since Sherman played well enough in his absence. This unit looks to have a bright future especially as you look at Earl Thomas who may be the next Ed Reed. Look for them to add depth at through the draft.

Seahawks Offseason Preview Empty Re: Seahawks Offseason Preview

QB- Pete and John dont care for any of the QBs in this draft other than Luck and maybe RG3. I doubt they take a QB this year.

RB- Lynch is the deciding factor for this team. If they dont retain him they'd be going five steps back. Forsett may stay and Washington is fairly solid to stay with his Return skills.

WR- Hard to believe just a few years ago the Hawks had the weakest WR Corps. Now quite frankly they have one of the strongest (depending on QB play) with Rice, Williams, Tate, Obomanu, Butler, Baldwin and Lockett. Seahawks got two gems in the rough with Baldwin and Lockett. Great moves by Pete and Co.

TE- Pete wants Carlson back and i agree. He's a good compliment to Miller.

OL- Ok everyone rags on the Hawks Offensive line but when you have three of the five starters on IR and you dont give up 5 sacks a game then it should be praised for the depth. Thats the exact reason Tom Cable is in Seattle. Expect the Hawks O line to get better. I'd expect a bit more depth but not til mid to late draft.

DL- Red Bryant is the obvious leader but dont forget about Mebane. He's had a quite but fantastic season at NT, his first season at the spot. Clemons is getting older and he's the only legit pass rusher Seattle has. Expect a pass rushing DE/LB/DT to be their first pick.

LB- A very solid group led by David Hawthorne. I'd expect them to resign hawthorne but not Hill. I'd almost expect McCoy to be placed at MLB while Hawthorne takes Hill's spot which is Hawthorne's natural position. They found the stud in KJ Wright. He made Curry ridiculously expendable.

DB- Not to sound like a homer but i think with a couple more years of experience this DB Corps will be the best in the NFL. Sherman and Browner are studs at CB and Earl Thomas is being hailed as the next all star safety in the mold of Troy Polamalu. And Kam Chancellor has been mentioned as possibly the next Ed Reed with his big hitting ability but with interception skills to bood. Pete and Co made this corps from a laughing stock to horror story for opposing QBs and WRs.
