Kellen Winslow traded to Seattle

Interesting move. I dont like the size of the contract. I'm sure the Front Office will try to renegotiate but overall i like the move. Winslow is a major offensive threat and hopefully if Seattle's offensive line steps it up we could have two great receiving TEs for either Flynn or Wilson

Major offensive threat?
He's alright.
Whats more important here is that now the panthers have to deal with Dallas Clark. Damn.

Winslow is an older, average (at best) tight end with a huge contract. For every big catch he makes, he makes 3 boneheaded plays with blocks in the backs or late hits. He's also a locker room cancer. Never particularly cared for him in Cleveland.

In recent years though Pete Carroll has been able to get players like Winslow to step up and perform.
Plus the contract is small considering Seattle's cap space and they only traded a conditional late round pick. at the worst it costs us a bit less than 3 mill in cap and a 6th round pick.

What exactly has Winslow done in his career? It's like S said. I think he's more name than game.

79 catches last season isn't bad at all, considering that was the 7th highest total for tight ends last season. But ya there's definitely times where you watch Kellen play and to paraphrase Browns, he just fucks up.

I like the move, Winslow has been a career underachiever so far but you need to factor into where he has played...Cleveland and Tampa, but hes a consistent 70-80 catch TE, the Seahawks IMO got a good deal for only a conditional Draft Pick...im sure the front office in Seattle will be working to restructure his contract and make it more pay for performance than any gaurenteed $$$$

Thats the thing almost a fifth of it is just incentives. Of the 4.8 million dollar contract 1 million of it is in incentives with 500k in workout and 500k in performance.
Winslow is actually a fairly productive TE. Carlson was good but no where near as productive as Winslow. Pete got winslow also for double TE sets which will give us more options in the running game and another option in the passing game. Pete and the Hawks coaching staff is crazy good at motivation and i'm sure they'll get as much as humanly possible out of Winslow.
