I'm calling it now, call me a homer, but either Arthur Brown or Matt Elam for DROY. I have a feeling our D will be a lot better than last year. With Suggs and Dumerville as big time pass rushers, Upshaw growing into one, our D line applying pressure, our secondary will be greatly boosted.

Honestly, I think the ravens will win the north again. Unless all of the bengals offensive pieces come together this year, I think the ravens will still win it. The ravens got better on D this year, we took two older players and replaced them with younger faster players. Added Doom, Webb will be back, Jimmy smith should build off of his performance in the SB. The only thing I worry about is what young WR they have will step up. If any. WR is the only concern I have goring into the season.

I actually see us using two TEs more with Dickson more this season and either putting him at the regular TE position and pitta in the slot, or putting pitta at the regular TE spot and Dickson who is faster in the slot. Plus we have a WR I am excited seeing in Deonte Thompson who I thought played really well in preseason last year. Hes a little like Torrey Smith and would be good in the slot. People seem to be sleeping on Torrey Smith huh? Hes had what? 3 yrs under his belt and has played better each year. Its not like Boldin will make that much of a difference, he didn't bail Flacco out all the time. Its not like he scored every TD flacco threw, Pitta scored, Torrey Scored, etc. We still have Pitta, Dickson, Jones, Rice, as well as a pass catching FB that we drafted in the fourth round out of Harvard. Plus some young WRs who now have a opportunity to prove themselves. Tandon Doss had great hands in college, and Is a possession WR, he just needs to re-harness those hands.

I just don't see the dolphins being that good just yet, maybe the year after next year, but not this season.

Sorry Ravens. I just don't see the same passing game out of you without an elite possession WR to bail your QB out all the time.

65 catches 921 yards and a whopping 4 TDs will be almost impossible to replace Rolling Eyes

last elite possesion receiver the ravens had in the regular season was good old derick mason.

you might had a case if you was talking about the play offs though cause it was then when boldin actually played like an elite receiver and bailed flacco out a few times.

regular season not so much.
Not sure how anyone can call 7 TDs in regular season over 2 years elite.

you still seem butthurt with the nonsense you keep talking about lol.

the thing that will be missed most on offense are his intangibles.

Not to mention he always says boldin was his buddy, yet, 90% of QBs in the league have their WR they go to. He talks about it like its not allowed to have that kind of WR. Peyton had Wayne, Brady had Welker, Manning has Cruz, etc etc. Flacco originally had Heap and Mason, yet they have gone and Flacco still plays well, even better with a new group than when he had Heap and Mason.

yeah dont get me wrong but i liked boldin alot and he had some great games in the regular season.
but over his 3 years with the ravens he had the following notable stats:
45 games he had 6 100 yards games and 14 TD.
100 yards games came against browns 2 times , jets, steelers , houston and cards.

in 45 games he amased 186 catches for 2645 and 14 TD.

that are good stats but not great and certainly not elite.

I liked him too, he came up clutch in important situations, but if Flacco was so buddy buddy, where were those amazing stats that Flacco kept throwing to him if he only has that many yrds, catches and TDs in 3 years? I'm not actually asking you or anything, I agreeing with you and making a point Razz

LOL @ the Ravens fans having a Kumbaiya session to convince themselves that Boldin wasn't important.

It's simple
1) STATS
2012 REGULAR SEASON
Most completions: Boldin (65)
Most rec yards: Boldin (921)
2012 POSTSEASON (You know, "Flacco's Montana-like Run")
Most receptions in NFL: Boldin (22)
Most TD receptions in NFL: Boldin (4)
Most yards in NFL: Boldin (380)
Most targets in NFL: Boldin (36) <--- Flacco's safety blanket

2) MAIN TARGET
Whose Flacco gonna go to when things break down now and everyone is covered? Who did you get to make these catches at the WR position? 3rd and inches with the Super Bowl on the line and Flacco checked out of the run play to get Boldin to catch one over the Niners best cover guy. Not Rice, not Pitta, not Jones, not Torrey, BOLDIN making a tough catch is what your franchise guy felt was the best option there.

If the guy wasn't all that, who did you guys get to replace him since Smith and Jones didn't outshine him? Aaron Mellette?

and that's why I have you guys missing the playoffs. That and the rise of Miami.

Nef77 wrote:LOL @ the Ravens fans having a Kumbaiya session to convince themselves that Boldin wasn't important.

It's simple

I'm not counting the ravens out until I see what young WRs they have will step up. As I said, Deonte Thompson was catching well in last seasons pre season, he just needed work on his routes from what I read. We have Tommy Streeter who I also read has been doing well. That's not even saying they might sign someone from FA. Again you sound like Boldin is the be all end all. Yet I remember a guy named Derrick Mason before him. Pitta is also one of Flaccos favorite guys and came through on 3rd downs last year. Just because Boldin is gone, doesn't mean we have no weapons now.

Mellette is a boldin-esqe player who needs some time to develop, scouts were even comparing him to boldin.

Torrey is also going into I think his third year and getting better each year, he could step up to replace boldin on those hard catches, no one knows until TC comes around and they start practicing. They've lost important players before an survived. As much as I like Boldin, I think the ravens and flacco can survive without him. You have your opinions and I have mine, we shall see when the season comes around.
