Cam Newton: The Anti-Russel?

He's had 2 400-yard passing games in his first 2 NFL appearances. Not to mention the rushing ability. He had some trouble with the turnovers today but he still almost led his team to victory and had a very succesful game, considering he was leading the WORST team against the BEST team from last year and was in only his second week. Maybe everyone who said he'd be another Jamarcus and would never succeed as a passer should start rethinking themselves?

I always thought he would be better than the criticism he received but I never imagined he'd put up numbers like this.

almost every offense in the league is having great numbers so far...i expect the defenses to start getting back in thier normal routines and these ridiculous passing days will come to an end by week 4

Before the season started I said I was on the Cam Newton bandwagon. I meant it.

The most important reasons? He has a Top 5 Center in Kalil who can help him out a ton. He also has a Top 5-8 LT in Gross. Wharton has played in 80something straight games. Otah has a ton of potential. His oline is what is allowing him to show off his skills right now.

Combine all that with a still deadly Steve Smith, two solid RBs (if Carolina would let them run), and two good receiving TEs in Olson and Shockey.

I really like what's going on in Carolina.

I'm impressed.

I thought he'd stink it up against a real defense because lets face it, the Cardinals are not a defensive powerhouse.

I wanted to see how he did against a better defense like Green Bay and he definitely delivered.

Which is good.

I get so frustrated that NFL fans are so adamant that certain college QB's will bust before they've even done anything all because they play in a certain kind of system at college (like they can't LEARN a new system?). Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Terrelle Pryor, Ponder, Kaepernick, Dalton etc = all branded busts at some point and they're still rookies.pretty much.

Kudos to Cam. Keep it up d00d.

Let's be honest know its been 2 games. 1 against Arizona and their rookie/unknown CB's. Then against GB who has some good CB's Woodson got 2 picks so HA.

Plus like Puppetz said, every offense has put up huge numbers, the defenses look like they were hurt the most during the lockout.

That reminds me, I have Woodson in the ESPN fantasy league along with Suh and Revis and half the Pro Bowl team from the last two years on defense.

Need to check out how badly the other team got raped...
