Pittsburgh Pirates 2011

Well, we havent played great...but weve played a hell of a lot better than popularly thought... so...i made this a about 2 weeks ago.

Starting pitching has been a pleasant surprise, if they can keep it up (they probably won't) this team has a legit shot at breaking the losing streak this year.

I hope Pedro gets it together, he's one of my favorite players and has so much potential. He was really good last year after a slow start so I'm hoping its's the same case here and he'll become the absolute clutch beast he was last year once he adjusts.

Don't understand why Doumit's in the lineup tonight, Chris Snyder is on fire and has only played a few games.

I hope Brad Lincoln gets called up and takes Ohlendorf's lineup spot. I think he can be good with the right pitching coach, Kerrigan ruined him last year but he has good stuff and Searage seems to be a much better pitching coach so I still have faith he can be something great.

Yes, pitching has been quite a pleasant suprise, if you take out Maholm we have a very solid staff for the next few years to come. Ohlendorf i gave him one last chance and he just cant stay healthy, get him out bring up lincoln and owens and get them the experience they need now.

Pedro has been strugglin a bit but hey so did McCutchen and look how hes done the last few games so maybe pedro can do a little of the same.

I got Pedro on my fantasy team so he better turn it around!

I think he can but we all just have to be patient. He didn't get hot last year until after he played for like 3 or 4 weeks, and while I didn't follow him closely through the minors from what I hear he had the same problem there.

yes he did, low average, high strikeouts, big power/obp/slug

im starting to like the pirates more and more now that I have to hear about them all of the time

MDD I propose you dich the Lions and Blue Jays and just become a full-fledged Pittsburgh fan.

well the steelers are my favourite AFC team and I couldn't ditch my beloved blue jays!

The part where Cutch says "I'm willing it stay here my whole career" sent a chill down my spine, because either he's straight up lying to the press which would make me hate him, or he actually is loyal and won't leave, which would probably make him my favorite player ever.

To be honest I'm shocked they're even talking. Something about Mccutchen always gave off the impression to me that he'd leave for somewhere flashier for a bigger contract at the first chance he got, so if he's actually working towards a legitimate deal that's good to hear. And it's a good sign that the front office is actually trying to lock one of our good players up long term rather than trade them before they become free agents. Perhaps things are actually starting to turn around...

Mccutchen's contract doesn't expire until after 2015 so it's not like they're just trying to get a last minute deal done either.

If we get out of May with anything close to a .500 record, I will begin to seriously consider this team as "the one."

"The one" being the one ot break the losing streak. Not make the playoffs or win the NL Central, but just to end the Nightmare.

Even if they don't break the losing streak this year, I love this team. Statsitically they may not be the best team ever, but they bring a winning attitude every night and never look defeated or unmotivated, they fight back and play until the final out. That cannot be said of most (actually, all) of the teams this ballclub has fielded since 1992.

Agreed man. We are playing like a real ballclub. We look and are playing so good right now!! I love bucco baseball!!!

That guy from UCLA should be amazing. I can't wait to see him in the majors.
