2011 NFL DRAFT!
Let's get it started. Less than 24 Hours! Hell the Lockout has really brought things down this season. So lets at least enjoy the draft!
Over/Under on how many times Goodell is booed?

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!
He'll be booed tremendously on the first pick and maybe the next couple, but then after that it will be a group of people who went to the draft specifically to hate on Goodell..lol

This. I believe this.
Though, I think there will be several well-mannered folk who just want to have a good time. Might not be that bad actually.

Ive suddenly abandoned by corner hopes and fallen in love with the idea of getting Pouncey.

There is a 0% chance that Pouncey will be on the board at 31. I don't think he's getting past Miami personally. But we shall see.

Has been talks about Tomlin trading up in the draft to get him. But like you said, we'll see.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!
My List for the Jets in the 1st round...
Phil Taylor NT 6'4 350lbs
Kenric Ellis NT 6'4 345lbs
Brooks Reed LB 6'3 265lbs
Jimmy Smith CB 6'2 215lbs
...........i know it may shock some of you that i have Smith on this board in the 1st round, but its a realistic approach, think about all this negative stuff being said about him and his stock is falling and causing him to tumble out of the 1st altogether...if he is still there when the Jets pick at #30 i can already see Rex talking Tanny out of taking Taylor and convinces Tanny that "you can never have too many corners"

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!
Surprising mock drafts. I've been thinking DE for the past year for the Bucs. I was guessing maybe Clayborn or Kerrigan with pick #20. I wake up to see Mayock has the Bucs getting Bowers and McShay/Kiper both have the Bucs getting CB Akamura(sp?). My guess is still DE, but CB is a definite need if the rumors about Talib are true.

I honestly dont see Amakumara falling to #20 , hes toted as the 2nd best CB in the draft behind Petersen, i think he will be gone to the Cowboys at #9

You won't find one in this years draft. Even Cards fans have stopped honking on about getting Newton or Gabbert.
I want either Von Miller or Patrick Peterson.
If both have gone by our pick, I wouldn't mind trading down with another team.

Heard talks about Cards getting Peterson, thus having a pretty darn good secondary with Cro, Wilson, Rhodes, and then add Peterson that'd be pretty good.
Then get Kolb or McNabb in FA if there is one.

no way in hell would we ever do that.
and i for 1 will be pissed if we do that
this would give us 1 pick in the whole draft except the picks assigned by the league.

Who said we would trade all our picks? We could trade a player(s) and a pick.
edit: oh wait nevermind, I forgot due to the current labor situations, there cant be any signing or trading of players, scratch that.

you would really take Ayers over Taylor if they are both there? just something about Ayers i dont like, i dont think he plays fast enough for an OLB in a 3-4...in my personal opinion i think we need Jenks replacement, Pouha has done nicely filling in, but we need someone to push the pocket and demand double teams from the O Line like Jenks, that way it will free up our LBs to get to the QB, if we add a LB here its basically useless considering we dont collapse the pocket with our front 3...

Yeah I like Taylor a lot and would be happy if we take him.. the first 3 guys on my list I value pretty equally to be honest. On the d-line I'd rather Wilkerson because he weighs 315 and can play any position along the line.
But I think OLB is a bigger need right now than D-line is. We have Pouha, DeVito, probably Ellis back, and young guys like Tevesau, Pitoitua, Gilbert, Dixon who can hold the fort for a year. Plus there's still a chance Jenkins can come back for another year (although it's less than 50/50 now I think). Ayers is great in coverage, and didn't get to rush the QB as much as he should have in college, yet still put up decent sack numbers. He ran an average 40 time, but his technique is supposedly excellent and he has the ability to be a very good, but probably not great pass rusher, while also playing the run well and being able to drop in coverage. Jason Taylor is at the end of his rope and Bryan Thomas is a solid player.. but we can really use a young explosive edge rusher and Ayers is the best bet at #30 imo.

i like your list alot, and yes i totally agree that we need some youth at LB and might be able to address that in the 3rd with either Cris Carter ( fresno state) or Dontay Moch ( 6'3 250lbs 4,3 forty ) , i just think with the system we run, we need more "beef" up front, i remember with a healthy Jenks how ferocious our D looked every week, Offenses didnt know who was coming and they HAD to use 2 lineman to contain Jenks, thats what i envison Taylor being...Wilkerson would be a nice alternative....but if the Jets do take a LB in the 1st, i hope to God that Kenric Ellis drops to us in the 3rd, he is another 6'4 350lb BEAST, just a little raw, but Rex would know how to fix that.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!
The quarterback obssesion is getting ridiculous. This is the absolute WEAKEST QB draft class in YEARS, and all of a sudden it looks like the record for most QBs in the first round is going to be set tonight. Seriously, if this were any other year Newton, and maybe Gabbert would be the only ones in the first round, and the late first round at that.
I actually really hope like 7 go in the first round like analysts are speculating, more GOOD talent to choose from for the rest of the teams.

Re: 2011 NFL DRAFT!
We need Corner, Oline, Dline and Running back. Sadly with no Free Agency, these are all positions we could of locked up (or at least two of them) in Free Agency, and now we have to worry about them in the draft. In my opinion, it does not matter what order we take these players in, but just taking them anyway. (Running back is a lesser Priority)
I'd like to see us grab Pouncey or Bowers if they are available in the first round. In the late rounds, I hope we look into drafting Pat Devlin with a later pick, or the Idaho QB in the 6th or 7th. Corner back we really need to get, but not one of them attract my eyes unless we move up to grab Peterson...which is very unlikely.
